Is SendFileOnline end-to-end encrypted?

Yes, on the Pro plan. Files are encrypted in your browser with AES-256-GCM before upload, and the decryption key is embedded in the URL fragment (after the #) — which browsers never send to servers. SendFileOnline cannot read your files; only people with your share link can. All plans include TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest, but only Pro adds true zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption. WeTransfer, Dropbox Transfer, Smash, and Filemail use server-side encryption only — the provider holds the keys.

Where are my files stored?

Your files are automatically stored in the server region closest to you. We operate servers in US (Ohio), EU (Frankfurt), and Asia (Singapore). European users' files are stored on European servers, ensuring compliance with data residency requirements.

How long do uploaded files stay online?

Free plan files are available for a limited time after upload. With PRO, you get full control over expiry - set custom durations from hours to weeks, or keep files available as long as you need them.

Is SendFileOnline GDPR compliant?

Yes. We use GDPR-compliant analytics and European users' files are stored on EU servers (Frankfurt). We don't require personal information for free transfers - no email, no phone number, no sign-up. Your data stays in your region.
